At 10:00 am, the Vice President attended the 39thNational Conference of Employers (NCE) in Marriott Manila Hotel, Pasay City. The NCE is the biggest annual event organized by the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) that provides employers the opportunity to discuss key issues surrounding employment, labor-management relations, and the general business climate.

In her speech, the Vice President emphasized the need to cultivate workers’ skills and training to ensure inclusivity in the world of technological development. “Think about it: what makes us unique as human beings is our incomparable imagination and tenacity. There are no limits to what we can create. And if we use that to come up with ways to improve the quality of life of every Filipino, we are heading towards a more promising future. One way to do this is to recognize that we must invest in our people’s learning. This is not about pitting humans versus machines; this is about developing both so that they can complement each other.”

At 12:30 pm, the Vice President attended the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, Inc. (AMCHAM) General Membership Luncheon Meeting in Marriott Hotel, Pasay City. AMCHAM is an organization of business leaders which aims to serve the interests of Philippine and American businesses through the participation of members in promoting their long-term objectives, while contributing to the civic and economic development of the Philippines. The luncheon meeting is a monthly briefing hosted by AMCHAM to address pressing business issues of the Philippine-US community and to promote business confidence and opportunities for AMCHAM.

In her speech, the Vice President talked about how women are taking part of various developments in different fields of work, but there are still many Filipino women who are left behind because of poverty. “The issues of women empowerment and domestic abuse are difficult and multi-faceted, and they require more than one solution. I have said this before, and I will say it again: the best way to empower the Filipina is to provide her with better options for economic growth and participation. Economic empowerment leads to freedom and equality. When women are given the opportunity to earn decent living and do well in it, they are stronger and more capable of avoiding a future of physical and emotional abuse.”

At 3:00 pm, the Vice President proceeded to attend the Testimonial Review in Honor of Gen. Rey Leonardo Guerrero and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Change of Command Ceremony in Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
