Catanduanes: Angat Buhay Continues Typhoon Nina Rehabilitation Efforts

    Office of the Vice President

    28 July 2017

The Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) anti-poverty program, Angat Buhay, continued to pursue rehabilitation efforts in Catanduanes, seven months after Typhoon Nina ravaged the province.

Representatives from the Angat Buhay team and partner organizations revisited the municipalities of Baras and Bato on 28 July 2017 for the turnover of livelihood and educational assistance.

Through Angat Buhay partner Negrese Volunteers for Change Foundation, 20 motorized fiberglass boats were distributed to the families in several barangays in the municipality of Baras. This was in response to the identification of reestablishment of residents’ livelihoods as the most pressing concern in the aftermath of Typhoon Nina. The beneficiaries also received grocery packs from Riparo, another partner organization based in Catanduanes.

Representatives from the PhilAm Foundation and the LBC Foundation –both Angat Buhay partners — also led the inauguration of two classrooms built in the municipality of Bato through their partnership with OVP.

OVP, through Angat Buhay, remains committed to the relief, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of communities affected by calamity and conflict throughout the country.

Through Angat Buhay efforts, VP Leni and her office continue to reach out to the marginalized for both urgent relief and long-term rehabilitation.
