At 11:00 am, the Vice President attended the Angat Buhay Young Leaders in Government (ABYLG) Fellowship Graduation Ceremony at the Quezon City Reception House, Quezon City. ABYLG is a political leadership training program for progressive youth leaders who are currently doing governance or legislative work. It caters to individuals who are committed to he values of freedom, equality, social justice, and solidarity. It also targets those who plan to pursue higher government or legislative posts, either at the local or national level. The program is supported by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Philippine office.

In her message, the Vice President imparted her experience in government work and gave advice to graduates who are working in government. “Lalo sa mga local officials, ‘di ba? Lalo sa mga nagtatrabaho sa gobyerno. Ang dami mong gustong gawin, pero ang daming hadlang. And we become frustrated. Normal naman iyon, eh. Pero I think the challenge for every leader is how do you not allow those frustrations to get in the way of what you’re doing. How do you not allow the difficulties to diminish the quality of the work that you’re doing. So ako, iyon iyong inaasahan ko from all of you, na to get beyond… to get beyond… the status quo. Pinakamadali kasi— Ang pinakamadali kasi sa lahat, to choose the easy way out. “Hindi na lang ako iimik para walang gulo.” ‘Di ba? “Tatahimik na lang ako para hindi na ako makasali.” Pero ang tanong: How are you contributing to the entire fight for good governance?”

At 4:30 pm, the Vice President went to the Istorya ng Pag-asa Film Festival (INPFF) 2020 Media Launch at Clock In by Ayala Land Offices, Legaspi Village, Makati City. Aiming to spread perseverance, dedication, and warmth of ordinary Filipinos and life’s adversities, the OVP, in partnership with Ayala Foundation, launched the third run of the INPFF—a nationwide, all-digital competition open to all Filipinos who must tell their chosen true story of hope in a 3- to 5-minute short film.
