Vice President Sara Duterte graced the opening of the new covered basketball court facility at Villahermosa Elementary School in Cawayan, Masbate yesterday, January 5, 2026.

The newly opened facility will be used for basketball, sports, and other school activities, providing students with a safer and more conducive space that can be utilized regardless of weather conditions.

The project was initiated following Vice President Duterte’s visit to the school during her tenure as Secretary of the Department of Education, when school personnel raised the need for a covered facility.

She emphasized the inclusion of a basketball court to encourage students to be more active in sports.

The covered basketball court facility was completed with the assistance of a non-government foundation, helping turn the school’s vision and the students’ aspirations into reality.
