Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday called on Filipinos to honor those who gave their lives in service of the nation, not only during the months-long clashes in Marawi City, but in other areas in the country.
In her message for this year’s commemoration of Undas, VP Leni extended her solidarity with the nation in commemorating All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
In particular, she called for prayers for our fallen soldiers, underscoring their and their families’ sacrifices in line with their duty to keep the country safe.
The Office of the Vice President is preparing to extend assistance for the rehabilitation of Marawi City, and addressing the needs of other affected communities, through its flagship anti-poverty program, Angat Buhay.
A team from the office, led by its chief of staff, USec. Philip Dy, earlier met with officials from Task Force Bangon Marawi and the local government to discuss collaboration in such endeavor.
VP Leni has underscored the importance of convergence in rehabilitating Marawi, saying that there should be a central command that will process assistance from all agencies and organizations, both in government and the private sector.
The OVP has been present in Marawi, one of its partner local government units under Angat Buhay, even before the 153-day clashes began. During the siege, it extended assistance to displaced residents, with VP Leni herself visiting them in evacuation centers in neighboring towns and cities.
