250 mangroves planted in Samar

As part of the PagbaBAGo: A Million Learners and Trees Campaign, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) joined hands with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in commemorating World Wetland Day 2024 on February 2.

Together with the DENR, the OVP - Eastern Visayas Satellite Office participated in a tree planting activity in Barangay San Juan, Santa Rita, Samar.

A total of 250 mangrove propagules were planted during the event.

Mangroves help in the conservation of fish habitats and the protection of communities along the coastline.

The activity was also attended by the Philippine National Police of Sta. Rita and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO).

The OVP aims to help preserve nature and continue the ongoing campaign to safeguard our environment and prepare for the effects of climate change on our communities.
