Vice President Sara Duterte was visited by officials of the Makabagong Ina at Kababaihan tungo sa Asenso (MIKA) led by Mrs. Mika Merkado last month at her office in the Department of Education.
MIKA is an organization composed of mothers and women from the City of San Pedro, Laguna. The group is recognized in the city for its significant contribution to the communities.
In January, the Vice President attended the group’s second anniversary celebration and expressed her desire to become a member of the organization.
She thanked the group’s members because during their visit, they brought the necessary documents for her to fill out to become a member.
MIKA is the first beneficiary of the Office of the Vice President’s “Mag Negosyo Ta ‘Day" program. MIKA’s main product is paper from water lilies that are abundant in their area.
MIKA is an example of women empowerment. This National Women’s Month, the Vice President hopes MIKA serves as inspiration to all mothers and women nationwide, emphasizing the significant role women play in building a strong and progressive nation.
