The Office of the Vice President - Disaster Operations Center (OVP-DOC) extended assistance to residents in areas inundated by floods brought about by the Low Pressure Area in the Caraga Region.
The OVP Surigao Satellite Office was with the Quick Response Teams in the various field offices in responding to the needs of the flood victims.
The distribution of rice and relief boxes began on February 27 in the towns of Lianga, Lanuza, Barobo and San Miguel in Surigao del Sur. In the following days, relief operations were held in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Norte.
According to the OVP-DOC report, 13,488 families or 57,276 individuals in the provinces of Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur were affected by the flooding.
