The Office of the Vice President (OVP) on Tuesday (March 21) launched a new route for its Libreng Sakay Program.
Two buses started plying the Commonwealth-Quiapo route on Tuesday afternoon.
The OVP, in partnership with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Quezon City Government, and JAC Liner, held a ceremonial blessing on the two buses Tuesday morning.
The route starts from Doña Carmen in Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City, and ends in Quiapo Church in Quiapo, Manila, and vice versa.
The two new buses complement the existing two other buses servicing the Edsa Carousel route.
Libreng Sakay buses are currently deployed in the cities of Davao, Cebu, and Bacolod.
The OVP's Local Affairs and Special Projects Division said that as of March 19, the program had served a total of 337,673 people in 5,852 trips nationwide.
The goal of the Libreng Sakay Program is to help the public in their daily commute to work, school, and other destinations
