Vice President Sara Duterte attended the Brigada Reading Summit in St. Mary's College, Borongan City, Eastern Samar on November 9.
Brigada Pagbasa is a program of the Department of Education that aims to raise literacy among our youth and address the learning gaps caused by the pandemic.
The Department of Education first launched the 3B initiative or the Bawat Bata Bumabasa under Department Memorandum 173 Series of 2019 under the leadership of former Sec. Liling Briones.
In her message, the Vice President said: "Let me thank our community volunteers, our parents, our local government leaders, including our barangay officials and Sangguniang Kabataan leaders, our private sector donors, our development partners, and civil society organizations for helping us improve the reading proficiency of our learners, build their confidence in their ability to learn and therefore arrest the drop out rates this school year through the Brigada Pagbasa program.”
