Vice President Sara Duterte, together with Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte and Sen. Imee Marcos, visited the Crisis Intervention Center-Balay Dangupan on November 12.
There are 47 girls currently being cared for by the welfare intervention facility.
CIC-Balay Dangupan started in 1994 and was established to have a facility that will take care of young women who are victims of abuse.
In the Vice President's message, she told the youth the importance of education. She said despite their bitter experience, the girls must persevere and fight to overcome it and have a good life.
"My reminder to you is that even though we may feel angry, we may feel difficulty, because of what has happened in our lives, my reminder to you is to always get up every day. Let's try to get into our Alternative Learning System schooling. Your education is important, it is important that you finish school so that you have a future that is brighter than your past and what you are going through now."
