Vice President Sara Duterte joined the members of Makabagong Ina at Kababaihan Tungo Sa Asenso (MIKA) in San Pedro City, Laguna, as they celebrated their second anniversary on Tuesday, January 16.

Within two years, the organization has grown, with 20,000 members actively engaged in activities for their city and community.

The group is the first recipient of the Office of the Vice President’s Livelihood Program Mag Negosyo Ta ‘Day.

The Vice President commended the organization for its success as it advocates for women's empowerment by being financially independent through their livelihood program.

The group produces paper products from water lilies, which abundantly grow in Laguna de Bay.

The Vice President said Filipino women play an important role in nation-building.
