Vice President Sara Duterte was the guest of honor in the Capiztahan 2023 Maragtas Sang Capisnon held at the Roxas City Bandstand, Capiz, on April 16.
In her message, she urged local officials to strengthen further tourism, disaster preparedness, and peace and order.
As the Secretary of the Department of Education, the Vice President also urged parents to ensure their children's education and protect them from the evils brought by insurgency and illegal drugs.
This was part of her message: “Ilayo po natin ang ating mga anak sa kapahamakan. Nanawagan po ako sa inyong lahat na mga kababayan ko na paniguraduhin natin na ang ating mga anak, ating mga apo, ating mga pinsan, mga kapitbahay, mga kaibigan — ay pumapasok po sa paaralan. Ilayo po natin sila sa insurhensiya, terorismo, ilegal na droga, at kriminalidad. Ang susi po ng tuloy-tuloy na kaunlaran ay edukasyon.”
