Vice President Sara Duterte, in November last year, attended a meeting with the National Book Development Board at the Department of Education (DepEd) in Pasig City.

Philippine book publishers were present during the meeting, where the Vice President expressed her gratitude for their willingness to collaborate with the DepEd in revitalizing the interest of Filipino youth in reading, writing, and introducing new ideas and innovations.

The Vice President was also appreciative of the industry’s positive reception of DepEd’s MATATAG Curriculum, emphasizing its role in advancing the goal of enhancing the quality of education in the country.

She proposed the frequent holding of dialogues, recognizing the significant contribution of the Philippine book publishers in providing quality reading materials.
