Vice President Sara Duterte expressed her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the fatalities in the deadly landslide in Purok 20, Mt. Diwata, Monkayo, Davao de Oro.
At least 11 died in the landslide.
As she sympathized with the grieving families during her January 20 visit, the Vice President also emphasized the value of community disaster preparedness — including preemptive evacuation from danger zones.
She also raised the urgent need for a mapping system by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to enhance community awareness of danger zones and avoid the impact of calamities.
