Vice President Sara Duterte recently visited military hospitals in Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City to check on soldiers wounded in recent encounters with terrorists personally.
On February 22, the Vice President went to Camp Evangelista Station Hospital in Cagayan de Oro City to meet with soldiers wounded in an encounter with the Maute terrorist group. Despite their injuries, she was heartened to see the soldiers’ smiles, a testament to their resilience and courage in ensuring the safety and peace of our communities.
Duterte also visited the Adventist Medical Center in Iligan City, where she checked on two soldiers injured in an encounter in Munai, Lanao del Norte.
The Vice President noted the absence of family members on the soldiers’ side, highlighting one of the challenges soldiers face – being far from loved ones while in service.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the Filipino people, she lauded their dedication and sacrifice for the nation's well-being, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing peace and opposing those who propagate terrorism.
The Vice President also showed respect to the six soldiers who were killed in the clash with the Maute Group. She visited the wake of Sgt. Reland Tapinit during her trip to Munai, Lanao del Norte.
She extended gratitude to Sgt. Tapinit's family for his service to the nation, expressing the most profound condolences to all affected families on behalf of the Filipino nation.
In her engagements with wounded soldiers and fallen heroes' families, the Vice President conveyed solidarity and support, recognizing the soldiers' sacrifices made in the pursuit of peace and security for the country.
