Twins with bone defect get OVP aid

MANDALUYONG CITY — Twins born with bone defect received medical aid from the Office of the Vice President’s Medical Assistance through the OVP Surigao Satellite Office.

Before this, 13-year-old Marvy and Marvin, who are from Rosario, Agusan del Sur, were never medically examined because of the family’s financial problems.

Their 38-year-old mother recently died due to Peptic Ulcer Disease.

The OVP’s Public Assistance Division (PAD) said the twins’ father, Benny, reached out to the OVP Surigao Satellite Office, asking for medical assistance, wheelchairs, and education support.

Benny said the twins had normal body structure at birth, but started showing deformities growing up.

Benny added that the twins recently finished Grade 6. They were unable to attend the graduation rites because of the death of their mother.

OVP Surigao Satellite representatives visited the twins, providing them with financial aid, food packs, medicines and vitamins. The family also received P5,000 as burial assistance for the twins’ deceased mother.

As of writing, the Office of the Vice President has already added a total of 50 partner hospitals and dialysis centers to its list of service providers for its medical assistance program.

In line with its objective to expand its Service Delivery Network and to reach more beneficiaries, the OVP now has a total of 84 partners composed of public and private hospitals, and dialysis centers nationwide.

The Medical and Burial Assistance Program, the OVP’s banner social services, along with expanded pro-poor initiatives, has continuously been providing aid to indigent Filipinos across the country.

The OVP said the free public assistance application forms are available at the central and satellite offices, and should solely be used by the clients requesting for such services.
